Ernest Benthall

Ernest Dale Benthall, 67, passed away on February 13, 2023, at home in Weatherford, Texas. Dale was born on May 24, 1955 in Abilene, Texas to Vance and Helen Odessa (Reeve) Benthall.

Dale grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated from O. D. Wyatt High School in Fort Worth, Texas in 1973. After high school he:

attended Weatherford College, and Tarleton State University.  He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Tarleton State University.
joined the Navy in 1973 and served for 4 years. After the Navy, he joined the Texas National Guard. He retired from the National Guard in 2017, achieving the rank of 1SGT.
worked for Texas Utilities as a Computer Programmer where he worked for almost 20 years. Later he became a truck driver.
was involved in the Tin Top Volunteer Fire Department and Parker County Search & Rescue for many years.

Dale married Joyce Canright in 1974 in Fort Worth, Texas. They were happily married for 48 years. He enjoyed reading, watching TV, tinkering, and most of all camping with our friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his Dad, Vance Benthall; Brother, Donnie Jay; Uncle, Don Benthall; Aunt, Benji McCormick; his grandparents; niece, Lauren Davis.

Dale is survived by his spouse, Joyce of Weatherford, Texas; daughter, Wendy and husband (Daniel) of Weatherford, Texas; son, Dusty and wife (Tuesday) of Weatherford, Texas; his mother, Helen Benthall; his brother, Troy and wife (Tammy) of Arlington, Texas; and sister, Amber of Fort Worth, Texas; his grandchildren, Ryder Benthall, Lacy and Cada Davis, Jovi VanDertuin and Grace Dodson; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd. Kennedale TX, 76060 at 1:00 pm, February 22nd.
