Allen Lee Burnett, 62, passed away on 15, November, 2021,
at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Grapevine, TX. He was born
on August, 30, 1959 in Reading, Pennsylvania to Daniel and Jean Bernet.
Al grew up in Reading, PA. He graduated from Blue Mountain Academy in Hamburg, PA in 1977. After high school he attended university at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan where he received a bachelor's degree in Political Science and a minor in aviation. After university, Al began work for Reading Regional Airport in Reading, PA where he started a flight school. He worked there for 1 year and when he left there were100 students. He then transferred to Basco Flying Service in Pottstown, PA and flew charters for the next 4 years. He was hired by SimCom Training Centers in Orlando, FL ASA flight instructor. He worked there for 4 years and then accepted an invitation to be a private pilot for a year in Tucson, Arizona. From there he went to Andrews University and was the Director of Aviation and Airport Administrator for 3 years. He returned to SimCom Training Center where he held the positions of Director of Business Jets, Manager of Regulatory Compliance and Training Center Manager. He was there for 17 years. His love for teaching brought him to Flight Safety where he was a flight instructor for the Pilatus PC-12/47 for the past six and a half years.
Al married Debbie in 1982 in Overland Park, Kansas. They were happily married for 39 years. Al was a member of the Arlington Seventh-day Adventist church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, flying, horseback riding and going to the gun range. He also received a multitude of aviation certifications that spoke to his passion and natural talent as a pilot and flight instructor.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Jean Bernet.
Al is survived by his spouse, Debbie of Arlington, Texas; his son, Mark Bernet (Clara Mae Bernet) of Hillsboro, Oregon; his daughter, Katelyn Burnett (Cory Burnett) of Mansfield, Texas; his brother, Daniel Bernet (Connie Bernet) of Reading, Pennsylvania; his sister, Sandra Evans (Bill Evans) of Reading, Pennsylvania; his grandchild, Gavin Bernet; his nieces, Jennifer, Angela, Amy, Andrea, and Jamie; his nephew, Randal.
