Alva Day Hanvey went home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2020 at the age of 92. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas on November 30, 1927.
She was married to Howard Frank Hanvey on June 20, 1947 after dating for only two weeks. They were married for 49 years until Howard went home to be with the Lord on April 12, 1997.
Alva was a faithful Christian and church member. Her family attended First Baptist Church of Fort Worth during the pastorate of J. Frank Norris. She joined Worth Baptist Church in March of 1976 and attended faithfully until her passing. She was also a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed camping, fishing, and volunteering with the Girl Scouts.
She is survived by a son, Michael Hanvey; two daughters, Susan Hanvey and Shelia Pierce; Son-in-law John Pierce. her grandchildren, Nicholas Holloway and Wife Chavon Holloway, Ashley Burston, Matthew Hanvey, Celeste Hanvey, and Bonnie Walker; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Friday, July 10 at Worth Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow at Emerald Hills Cemetery in Kennedale.
