FORT WORTH -- Alvin "Gene" Meyer, 66, of Fort Worth passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at approximately 9 p.m. after a long, hard fight against prostate and bone cancer
Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at Emerald Hills Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Emerald Hills Funeral Home.
He was born on Jan. 3, 1948, to Alvin A. and Geneva Meyer in Fort Worth. Alvin graduated from Trimble Technical High School and worked for Lockheed Martin for 30-plus years. Prior to his career at Lockheed he was a police officer and homicide detective for the Fort Worth Police Department. At age 26, he was one of the youngest police officers to be promoted to detective, an accomplishment he was very proud of. During his tenure in the police department, Alvin, was responsible for saving many lives.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 16 years, Lois; and his parents, Alvin A. and Geneva Meyer.
Survivors: Daughter, Angie Espiriqueta; sisters, Janet Clark and Janis Sexton; nieces and nephews, Bobby Barbare, Cynthia Barbare, Trey DeRossett, Andrea Nicholson, Sage Sehmi and Vincent Sexton; and a host of other loving family and friends.
