Amos Clifton Beard 92, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 in his home in Arlington, Texas. He was born December 16, 1927 to William and Rosalyn (Rolan) Beard in Buckholts, Texas. Mr. Beard served in the Military, starting out by enlisting in the Navy then later joining the National Guard and ending his Military career as a Major in the Army Reserves.
He was united in Marriage to Madalyn Louise Treadway on July 15, 1944. Following her death in 1991, Mr. Beard married Agnes Lockstedt. She passed away in 2004. He then married Terri Harrison and they remained married until her passing in 2011.
Amos worked for Centeco and RK Automatics as a machinist for many years before retiring. He enjoyed taking things apart and then putting things back together. He enjoyed looking at something and then creating his own version of it, including fishing rods and reels. He loved fishing and hunting and often would share his adventures in each during visits. He also was known to square dance and bowl. He loved his family and he would try his best to do what he could for everyone.
Amos was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rosalyn Beard; wives, Madalyn, Agnes, and Terri ; daughter, Judith Beard; sister, Bonnie Brewer; brother, William Henry Beard; sister, Esther Atchison; twin sister, Allie Faye Dennie; and brother, Arville Beard.
He is survived by daughter, Mary Cortez and husband, Willie Joe of Austin; son, Michael Beard and wife, Fritzlyn of Arlington; sister, Myrtle Irene Morton of Egan; Grandchildren: Joseph Cortez and wife, April; Timothy Cortez; Michelle Miller and husband, Chuck; Christopher Cortez, Martin Cortez and wife, Belinda; Jeffery Beard, Joshua Beard, Stephanie Beard, Micalyn Beard, and Milynca Beard; 11 great-grandchildren with one more soon to be here;2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation to be held on Friday, June 12 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale-Sublett Road, in Kennedale. Funeral Services will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church-Arlington on Saturday at 10 a.m. Graveside will follow at Emerald Hills Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Leila Miller for her help with caring for Amos over the last few years. Many heartfelt thanks to Julie Howel and her family, who all became close and dear friends of Amos during his last decade. Also, thanks to Alpha Omega Hospice for their guidance and support especially during these final few weeks.
In lieu of flowers, financial donations can be made to Carter Blood Bank. Amos was a long-time donor until his own health prevented it.
