Aurora Soria Zapata, 72, crossed the veil on, December 2, 2024 at her home in Arlington, Texas. She was born on March 11, 1952, in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, México to Jesús and Aurora Perez Soria.
Aurora grew up in Dallas, Texas, where she met, then married Miguel Zapata in 1971. They were happily married for over 53 years and sealed as an eternal family. Aurora worked throughout her life in roles in which she served others including various callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was an exceptional cook who used her skills to share her love with anyone who entered her home. Her laugh was infectious; her smile lit up the room. Aurora loved to dance, travel, play lotería, and absolutely loved spending time and having fun with her many adoring nieces and nephews.
Aurora has returned home and is now in the luminous presence of those who have preceded her, including her parents Jesús and Aurora Perez Soria; father-in-law and mother-in-law Gonzalo and María Peña Zapata; siblings José Navarro, Guadalupe (Genoveva) Soria, Francisco (Margarita) Soria, Manuel (María) Soria, Pedro Soria, Virginia Soria; brothers-in-law Armando Rizo, Pedro Becerra, Martín Balderas, Guillermo Lara; sisters-in-law María “Viri” Gonzalez, Evangelina Soria; and precious grandchild Dallas Angelo Zapata.
Aurora is survived by her spouse Miguel Zapata of Acuña, Coahuila México; children Martha Ann (Ivan) Guerrero, Michell (Gerald) Dyson, Amanda Zapata, Miguel “Mikey” Zapata; siblings Juana Becerra, José (Yolanda) Soria, María Balderas, Hortencia (Raymond) Gonzales, Gloria Lara, Jesus (Mary) Soria, David Soria; in-laws Gonzalo (Alicia) Zapata, Guillermo (María) Zapata, Dora Rizo, Federico Gonzalez; grandchildren Tahan Dyson, Naiya Delyse Dyson, Antonio Emiliano Zapata, Ian Zapata Guerrero; and her many beloved nieces and nephews. She loved them all "to the moon and back and beyond".
A memorial service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park. It is located at 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale, TX 76060 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
In lieu of flowers you can honor Aurora by wearing her favorite color – purple – or by donating to a local food bank, as she loved feeding her family and friends alike.
La Familia Zapata desea extender su más sincera gratitud a todos los que estuvieron a su lado, estuvieron pendiente de ella, o la colmaron con el amor y el apoyo que ella brindó a tantos.
The Zapata family wishes to extend their heart-felt gratitude to everyone who came to her side and showered her with the love and support that she gave to so many, who called her, or warmed her heart with the same love and support that she freely gave to so many.
Celebrate My Life
Remember me with love and joy,
Let gratitude fill your heart.
Thankful for the time we had,
Gone….yet not apart.
If we measured life in moments,
Not in months or years,
I lived a hundred lifetimes,
Loved by all who hold me dear.
I hope you’ll find your smile,
And generously speak my name.
Share stories and my heart,
Your love for life unchanged.
Celebrate the life I lived,
I will be watching from above.
I am always with you,
Sending you my light and love.
