Barbara Jean Poux

Barbara Jean Poux, age 64, of Mansfield, TX, was called home to our Lord on September 6, 2023. Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Willie Dears. She is survived by her mother, Mildred Dears; her son, Gary and daughter, Danielle; her grandchildren, Lyric, Azai, Naya, Chloe and Elijah; her brothers and sisters, Sharon, Nathaniel, Cynthia, Kenneth, Cheryl and Derryl; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. All loved her dearly.

Barbara grew up in Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1977. Barbara will be remembered as “the original Uber”. You could always call on Sister Poux for a ride, childcare, a good card game, or a laugh. Although she could be forgetful at times, she made sure to remember everyone’s birthday. She made everyone feel special with a phone call and serenaded them with a special “Happy Birthday” song. Barbara was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church her entire life and was a dedicated member of the Usher Ministry. She even proclaimed herself the official “choir usher”.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Bethlehem Baptist Church, Christopher “Buddy” Jones and Emerald Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, the entire Mansfield community, and all those who have supported us throughout this journey.
