Bertie Wilson

Bertie Ruth Wilson, 96, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 18, 2022. She was born on October 2, 1925, in Denton County, Texas to John and Willie (Horton) Garrett.

Bertie married Virgil Henry Wilson in 1941.  They were happily married for 60 years and had 3 children. Bertie was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas.  She loved her Lord and Savior and served him faithfully.  She enjoyed big family get togethers as well as individual visits with her family.  She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and cooking but most of all being with her family.

Bertie was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Wilson and son, David Wilson.

Bertie is survived by her daughters, Linda Brown of Mansfield, Texas and Sandra Babcock of Mansfield, Texas.  Grandchildren: Rene (William) Mendoza, Larry (Shelly) Moore, Lori (Joel) Doering, Jamie (Brian) McCarty, Kenny (Michelle) Wilson, Sheri Wilson, and Michael Williams.  She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublet Road, Kennedale, Texas at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Emerald Hills Memorial Park.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all who prayed, sent cards, food, flowers, and to her New Hope church family and to AlevCare Hospice. Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church.
