Betty Wickersham
June 28, 1939 — January 3, 2018
Betty Jo Wickersham was born June 28, 1939 in San Antonio, TX to Delbert Carl Bruce and Ruby Lou (Luckenbach) Bruce. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. Betty was a retired teacher from the Kennedale School District, where she taught for over 20 years. During this time, she touched the lives of many students and their families. Her love, dedication, and determination to ensure every one of her students succeeded was always her first priority. Her creative and engaging teaching style was recognized by all, earning her “Teacher of the Year” honors four times. Betty was the perfect example of a Godly Christian woman, doing everything to glorify her God. She led Bible Studies in her home for women in her neighborhood, and at Green Oaks Nursing Home, where she volunteered weekly. We find comfort in knowing she is with our Lord, and we will all be reunited one day.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, David Wickersham and wife Katherine; daughter Linda Graddy; grandchildren, Eric Graddy, Trenton Graddy, Bethany Graddy, Ryan Wickersham, and Carter Wickersham; great grandchild, Holden Graddy; sister, Annie Curtis and husband Lowell; brothers, Sam Bruce and wife Delaina, Jim Bruce and wife Jacque, and David Bruce.
Memorial service for Ms. Wickersham will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 1:30P.M. at First Baptist Church in Kennedale with Pastor Bryan Eason officiating and Pastor Tim Hughes assisting. Services are under the direction of Emerald Hills Funeral Home.
