Beverly Kinslow

August 8, 1959 — February 26, 2016

Beverly Darlene Kinslow, 56, passed away February 25, 2016. She was born in Dallas County, Texas on August 8, 1959 to Raymond and Catherine Phillips.

Darlene grew up and attended school in Grand Prairie, Texas. As a child she was involved in competitive speed skating and competitive dance roller skating. She had a sheltered childhood which gave her ample time to play jacks with her sister Rhonda.

At the age of 13 she met a boy named Terry who asked her out, but reluctantly she refused. Little did she know that years later they would cross paths again when she was 41 years old. They were re-introduced through a blind date set up by her son-in-law. What she thought would be only one date turned into 15 years of love.

Darlene was an avid reader, member of Narcotics Anonymous and enjoyed numerous outdoor activities. She had a flourishing vegetable garden that she used for canning and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Darlene's favorite movie was "Lonesome Dove", and she made sure everyone she knew saw that movie.

Darlene was a mother, sister, friend and Nanny to all. She was one of a kind and had a uniquely special bond with each person in her life. She unconditionally loved her husband and enjoyed the more simple things in life. Such as the week they spent in Galveston deep sea fishing.

Her children growing up, learned how scary "the Finger" really was, they also learned the only song she knew, "The Crayon Song". They made her proud and she would tell anyone who would listen just how proud she was. She showed them how to be strong, independent and love with everything she had. Several times she played the role of peacemaker and consistently reminded them to be nice.

Darlene adored her grandchildren. She loved to sing to them even though she was not good at carrying a tune. At the end of her life she wanted to be surrounded with family and would call her daughter about 100 times a day.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents: Raymond Isaac Phillips and Catherine Elaine Bradock Phillips; son Jonathan Isaac Compton, sister Sharon Baker and special friend Hessie Schaffer.

She is survived by her husband Terry Weimer; children: Terry Uselton and his wife Jamie, Twyla Long and her husband Thomas, Violet Hutchins and Heaven Leigh Hutchins; grandchildren: Jonathan Dudley, Andrew Dudley, Dustin Colt Rosemond, Alexya Rosemond, Ashten Long, Emily Long, Lillie Uselton; siblings: Rhonda Speaks and her husband Danny, Jackie Phillips, Laurie Pinson and numerous extended family members.
