GRANBURY -- Bobby Jack Watson, 71, a loving father of 10 children, 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at home surrounded by his family.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday, Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Jack was born Nov. 23, 1935, in Johnson County. He grew up on the 3600 block of McCart Street in Fort Worth, where he attended B.H. Carroll Elementary School. He moved to Joshua and attended Joshua High School.
In 1951, he was vice president of his freshman class, voted class favorite and was the starting halfback on the football team. In 1952, he was vice president of his sophomore class, voted class favorite and was the starting halfback for the football team.
In 1953, he was starting halfback for the undefeated regional championship football team. For the class of 1954 he was voted Mr. JHS. student council, captain of the football team, homecoming king and was the starting halfback.
After high school, Jack served a four-year apprenticeship in the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He worked as a journeyman plumber and was union member of Local 146 in Fort Worth for 52 years.
Jack lived out his days with his wife, Willie, in their home on Lake Granbury, where he loved to cook for the family and watch the children fish off the dock.
He was a wonderful man, loved by many and will be missed greatly.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Willie Dee Watson of Venus; mother, Zula Mae Mckinney of Cleburne and her husband, Mack; sister, Evelyn Oliver of Cleburne; and his father, Robert Lois Watson of Cleburne.
Survivors: Son, Bobby Watson and wife, Valerie of Mansfield and their children, Jewel, Bobby III, Garret and Allison Watson; daughter, Sena Riffle of Bluff Dale and her husband, Larry and their children, Ronny, Randy and Brittany Stewart and their granddaughter, Ryann; daughter, Jackie Upchurch and husband, Gary of Burleson and their children, Stephani, Debra and Becky Upchurch; daughter, Connie Bagley and husband, Johnny of Crowley and their children, Valerie Mullins and Andrea Daniels, their granddaughters, Kristen and Lexie and their grandson, Rory; daughter, Debbie Burns of Crowley and her husband, Art and their children, Stacie Sherman and Aric Burns; daughter, Paula Eason of Springtown and her husband, Kirk and their children, Crystal Kirk, Joey Siebenaller and Kirk Eason and their grandsons, Andrew and Austin; son, Earl Paul Arnold of Fort Worth and his child, Earl Paul Arnold III; son, Bobby Gumm and wife, Kristy of Granbury and their child, Sonye and their grandson; son, Tim Arnold and wife, Donna of Everman and their children, Alan, Chealsea and Michelle Arnold.
