Carole Markel

Carole Jean Markel, 82, passed away on February 17, 2023, at her home in Fort Worth, Tx with her children and granddaughter, Megan, by her side. She was born on November 7, 1940 in Comanche, Tx to J.K. Robertson and Minnie Mae (Flippo) Robertson.

Carole grew up in Hillsboro, Tx. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1959. She was married and started her family shortly after high school and started her live journey as a spiritual leader, caregiver, nurturer, mentor, counselor, advisor, and so much more to her expanding family for the rest of her wonderful life. Everyone she met was truly touched by her easy way, quick to smile nature, sincere interest and caring participation in their lives, even if only for a moment.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents J.K. Robertson and Minnie Mae Robertson, brothers Garland Robertson, Gerald (Sonny) Robertson, Stan Robertson, and sister Maxine Runnels Minchew, and son Stephen Smith (Leigh).

Carole is survived by her sons Mike Smith of Arlington, Tx; Chris Markel of Fort Worth, Tx, daughter Stacey Curtis of Fort Worth, Tx; daughter-in-law Leigh Smith of Lewisville; her grandchildren Shaun, KayCe, Rachel, Megan, Ethan, Jordyn, and Caleb; her great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Wyatt, Xaniah, and Luna; and her many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
