CROWLEY -- Charles C. Cotton, 91, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday in Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park with full military honors. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was born in Pipestone, Minn., and at age 7 moved to LaCross, Wis., where he grew up with his three younger brothers. He graduated from LaCross Nolan High School in 1938. Chuck joined the Army in 1941, retired in 1962 as a first sergeant with 21 years of service. During his tenure in the Army he served in World War II and the Korean War, and had several tours to Japan. He also received several commendations. After retiring from the Army he relocated to Fort Worth. He then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years, retiring in 1988 at the age of 70. Charles became a Christian in 1966 and was a member of Hallmark Baptist Church.
Charles was preceded in death by daughters, Sandra and Shirley; and brother, Gale.
Survivors: His loving wife of 53 years, Mary Cotton of Crowley; daughter, Linda Gautreaux and husband, Robert, of Everman; sons, David Harvey and wife, Marilyne, of Crowley and Clarence T. Harvey Jr. of Bedford; grandchildren, Trish, Belinda, Michael, Daniel, Debra, Keith, Kelby, Tommy and Amy; great-grandchildren, Bryan, Catherine, Kyle, Samantha, Brooke, Jacob, Amelia and Phillip; great-great-grandchild; and brothers, Sid and Ron Cotton.
