Clyde Keller was born in Van Texas on Sept. 18, 1931 to Clyde and Virgil Keller. Clyde was born to a family of 11 siblings and was raised on a cotton farm where he learned his persistent work ethic. At 15 he decided to lie about his age so he could help support his family. He was drafted to the Army at the age of 18 to fight for our country in the Korean War. Soon he was promoted to Sergeant 1st class. He led many young soldiers back to safety. During his service he earned many medals, including the Bronze Star. When asked how he earned it, he always replied he was just doing his job.
After leaving the military he moved to Arlington, where he met his wife of 43 yrs, Brenda Wallace. He started a family and went to work for G.M. Through hard work and dedication he was promoted to Benefit and Union Rep. He retired in 1994 after 44 years of service. Many of his years were spent coaching ball teams. He raised three athletes and managed to coach them all. Clyde never missed a practice or a game where his kids were playing.
The best twenty years after retirement were spent gardening and mowing his couple of acres. He enjoyed anytime he spent with his children and grandchildren.
Clyde was a man of honor and fairness. He always helped anyone that was helping themselves. He was a hard man to get to get to know and always expected you to give 110%. Underneath his hard shell was a caring and concerned man.
