ARLINGTON -- Cynthia Jean Gunther, 45, of Arlington passed away peacefully at her home, to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 23, 2013. She put her trust in God's will during her long, valiant battle with cancer.
Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Friday at Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel, 500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale. Visitation: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, in the chapel.

Cynthia was born on Dec. 11, 1967, in Mauston, Wis., to Edward F. Gunther and Sharon Vargas. Cynthia had three sisters, Nicole Vargas, Teresa Esquivel and the late Sherry Arismendez. She also has two brothers, Edward Vargas and Juan Vargas.
Cynthia graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington in 1985. Shortly thereafter, she met the love of her life, Juan Fuentes. For the past 17 years, Juan and Cindy had many adventures that included raising Juan's daughter, Melissa Fuentes, camping, rafting and family days at Six Flags. Cynthia was an animal lover, always caring for many cats and dogs that were lucky enough to find her. She loved to sew, knit, cook, entertain and was at her happiest hosting family events . . . even hours before she went to sleep and never woke up. She was full of life and never complained about her illness. She had an amazing spirit and a very kind heart.
Preceding her death were her father, Edward F. Gunther; her stepfather, Patricio U. Vargas; and her sister, Sherry Arismendez.
Survivors: Cynthia is survived by her soul mate, Juan Fuentes; her stepdaughter, Melissa Fuentes; her mother, Sharon Vargas; her sisters, Nicole Vargas and Teresa Esquivel; her brothers, Edward Vargas and Juan Vargas; her niece, Misty Boyd; two cats and two dogs; many dear family members; and a host of friends. May she rest in peace with no more pain and sleep with the angels.
