Dave Gentry, 82, passed away on the 14th of March 2025, at Texas Health Memorial Hospital, Arlington, TX. He was born on October 15, 1942, in Monahans, Texas to Bernard and Margaret Wadlington Gentry.
Dave grew up in Monahans, TX, Hobbs and Albuquerque, NM. Dave graduated from Sandia High School in Albuquerque, NM in 1961. After high school he went to college at the University of New Mexico. Dave worked in the family pharmacy business in Albuquerque before transitioning to become a District Manager at the Reliable Life Insurance business in Dallas, TX. Dave started the Kings Quartet and played the keyboards and sang tenor. They traveled widely across the US singing in churches and state fairs sharing the good news of the gospel. Dave was a music minister at Church on the Rock, in Rockwall, Texas. He was a gifted musician on the piano and organ. He especially loved playing the Hammond B3 organ. When he played, the music was always worshipful and a blessing unto the Lord. He also collaborated with Carolyn to make a gospel worship CD. On one of his very last days at the hospital, Dave was heard singing in the ICU and praising his heavenly father.
Dave married Carolyn in January of 1964 in Albuquerque, NM. They were happily married for 61 years. Dave was affiliated with the Full Gospel Churches. He loved his family and was devoted to his son and two grandsons. Dave was also a dog lover. Later in life, he was content to spend time at home with his dog Quency and his loving wife Carolyn.
Dave was preceded in death by his mother and father Margaret and Bernard Gentry, his sister Diane Warren, and his brother Donald Gentry.
Dave is survived by his spouse Carolyn of Arlington, TX; his son David Genty II and his spouse Suzanne, grandchildren David Gentry III and Daniel Gentry of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Joyce Gentry, Kim and Jeff Pounds, Bev and Chris Cane, Michelle and Mark McGuire and many grand nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale, TX 76060 at 11:00AM, March 21st. A visitation will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, from 6:30 to 8 PM, on March 20th.
