David Arthur Wethington, 70, of Arlington passed away Friday, October 27, 2017.
Memorial Service 1 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Emerald Hills Funeral Home.
Inurnment November 17, 2017 at the Missouri National Cemetery.
David Arthur Wethington was born in Southeast Missouri on February 7, 1947. He grew up in a small town, Gray Ridge, Missouri. It was there that he met Jesus Christ in a small Baptist Church. He lived his life as a Christian and joined his Savior on October 27, 2017.
He was the eighth boy born to Hudson and Bertha Wethington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hudson and Bertha; his sister, Pauline Clanton; and his brothers, Glen, Russ, Paul, Elzie, and Fred; two brothers-in-law, Sam Curtis and Cecil Clanton.
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Sharan Gail; son, Andy and wife, Libby; daughter, Amy. He also leaves behind his granddaughter, Avery Elizabeth, the joy of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Curtis; brothers, Donald and wife, Gloria, and M.B. and wife, Katherine; sister-in-law, Vi Wethington, Shirley Wethington, Freda Wethington, and Wanda Wethington; mother-in-law, Robbie Meadlin; sister-in-law, Cynthia Dozier and husband, Gary; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
David proudly served his country after joining the Navy right out of high school. He served in Viet Nam on the U.S.S. Whitfield County, an LST. He was very patriotic and loved his country, the United States of America. After the service, David went to night school and earned his Bachelor's Degree in business. He worked most of his career at Boeing Electronics in Irving, Texas. He retired in 2012.
David loved to watch sports. He enjoyed college football and especially the Texas Longhorns. He was very friendly and witty, and he tried to get a smile or laugh out of everyone he met. He never met a stranger. He was always happy and lived a joyful life. He was loved by many.
He loved his Texas family and his Missouri family very much. He will be missed by many family members and friends. David will join his sister Pauline and his brothers, Elzie, Paul, and Fred at the National Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, a place of honor and national pride.
