Mae Dell Monroe, born October 26,1918, passed away September 13, 2012 at the age of 93. Much to her father's dismay at the age of 11, Mae Dell had a young suitor who took quite the liking to her and would hang aroung her house running off any other young men who might try to visit. This young man had decided Mae was the one for him practically from childhood. At the age of 19 the young man would sleep on the porch to keep away any other potential suitors. Her father decided to the tell the boy he better marry her because he can't have him sleeping every night on the porch. Later the same year she married the man, Jake Monroe, and together they started a lifelong romance. Their family grew and a daughter and son were born and blessed their lives with joy and laughter. At the time of Jake's passing they were married 49 years. Her children remember Mae as a wonderful mother who put her children and their needs before her own. When Mae found the time she enjoyed quilting, and she sewed her daughters clothes. Mae gardened and did alot of canning for her family. Mae worked tirelessly as a homemaker for her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents George and Iva Claborn Reed; brother, Clifton "Punk" Reed; and husband Jake Monroe.
The ones left to remember her include, son, James Monroe and wife Mary; and daughter Patsy Hatton and husband, Danny: four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and extended family members and friends.
