Arlington

Dorothy Earlene Walcott, 94, passed away on Tuesday, August 27,2024, at her home in Arlington, Texas. She was born on June 24, 1930, in Itasca, Texas to Amos and Allie Burch Sellers.

Dorothy grew up in Mosheim, Texas. She graduated from Gatesville High School in Gatesville, Texas in 1947. After high school she Married Kenneth Ladell Walcott on June 8, 1947. They were happily married for 71 years. As children, Dorothy and her siblings worked on the farm, and she would often tell stories about them; Mostly about picking cotton, the conditions in the fields were very rugged and harsh. Dorothy graduated from Gatesville High School and in the same year she married Kenneth and together they started raising a family. Kenneth's work was demanding, and it took them to many new places to live; until Kenneth went into business for himself. While his work was going strong, and they could stay in one place; Dorothy wanted to pursue her dream of being a nurse. In 1967, she got her LVN license. After working several years, she went on to receive her diploma in 1976, as a registered nurse where she worked at CPC Millwood for over 24 years. There she made lifelong friends before retiring. Dorothy was the last of her siblings. She was the one that everyone could turn to for advice and for the history of our family. She was raised with Christian values and was not afraid to tell you about them. She was the rock that held our family together. Dorothy was loved by all and will be missed beyond words can say.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Ladell Walcott, parents Amos and Allie Sellers, son Gary Walcott, and siblings George Sellers, Georgia Cummings, Mary Long, Martha Nell Raincrow.
