Elgie Morales

February 14, 1923 — October 4, 2018

Mansfield

Elgie Violet Morales, 95, of Mansfield went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 4, 2018.  Elgie was born on February 14, 1923 in Clarksville, Texas to the late George Thomas Gordineer and Ida Mae (Ryno) Gordineer.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack Morales; daughter, Kathryn Taylor; and son, James Morales.

Elgie moved to Arlington, Texas and married Jack Morales and then they lived in Arlington and raised their family.  They owned several businesses over the years and Elgie was known to outwork most of the men folk.  She loved her children and adopted many of her son’s friends as “one of her boys” and they affectionately called her “Maw or Momma.”  She had an enormous sense of humor and you never knew what she was going to say next.  Elgie enjoyed her Saturday nights at The Farr Best Theater with her family and eating out with her grandkids at Luby’s.  She had a love for animals and always had her small dog in her lap.

Those left to cherish her memories are her sons, Charles Morales, Rodney Taylor, Jackie Morales and wife Bethany; daughter, Mary Lou Taylor and husband Pee Wee; grandchildren, Rhonda Meadows, Charlotte Morales, Tonya Edwards and husband Pat, Becky Bayles and husband Joel, Karyn Couch and husband Ronnie, Sally Johnson and husband Ryan, Jill Geran and husband Kurt, Kevin Morales, Angelique Pena and husband Gene, Jerry Morales and wife Pam, Shauna Battles and husband Tim, Julie Johnson and husband Robert, Christi Greer and husband Ryan, Ronald Taylor and wife Chenea, Wesley Taylor and wife Wendy, Melinda Holster and husband Clay, Robert Taylor and wife Becky;  twenty six great grandchildren; great great grandchildren, Wyatt and Lilly Meadows; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A special thanks to the Mansfield Medical Lodge for the care and companionship they have provided to Elgie through the last five years.
