Gary Keith Mitchell, 69, went home to be with his Lord Jesus on Friday after a long, courageous battle with cancer. A beloved husband, dad, granddaddy and friend passed away Sept. 24, 2010, at home with family by his side.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Gary was born April 3, 194l, in Arlington, Kansas. He married Peggy Scroggs on Dec. 28, 1961.
Many people walk in and out of our lives, but few leave a lasting impression like Gary. He leaves a legacy of unwavering kindness, strength and determination to all who knew and loved him. His presence will forever remain in our hearts.
Gary was a member of Calvary Cathedral International Church in Fort Worth for 30 years. He was known for his meticulous and excellent work ethic and was happiest when helping others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Lois Mitchell; and his brother, Dallas Mitchell.
Survivors: Gary is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Peggy Mitchell of Mansfield; daughter, Charlotte and husband, Lance Crabb, of Rendon; son, Austin and wife, Laurie Mitchell, of Mansfield; grandchildren, Crystal Campbell, Danielle Mitchell, Thomas Mitchell and Lane Crabb; siblings, Marvin and wife, Betty Mitchell, Kathy and husband, Jimmy Crozier, Lois Chick, Russell Mitchell and Deloris Tyson; as well as many friends and loved ones.
