Gary Watkins

Gary Wayne Watkins, 60, passed away on the 14th day of July , 2020 at a friend’s home in Fort Worth Texas.  He was born on June 26, 1960 in Fort Worth Texas to Sterling and Juanita Booth Watkins.  Gary grew up in Fort Worth as well as Burleson Texas and attended Burleson High School.  During his childhood and teenage years, he was a member of Truth Church.  At the age of 15 he began working with his father in the family business, Watkins Drywall and continued to do so for 40 years.  Gary was a member of the ASPCA and advocated for them frequently to others. Gary had a variety of hobbies which included fishing, bowling and loving on his kids, aka dogs.  Anyone that knew Gary knew he would never back down from an argument even if he was wrong. He stood firmly for what he believed to be true.  Although Gary never had children to call his own, throughout his life he had numerous dogs that he considered to be his kids.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Sterling Watkins and Juanita Booth Watkins.  Gary is survived by his sister Anita Kay Watkins Womack (husband Bobby) of Burleson Texas; his niece Krystal Kay Whitlock of Grand Prairie Texas; numerous cousins and a very special friend, Thomas Williams of Fort Worth Texas.

Memorial service for Gary will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale Texas 76060 in the chapel on September 12, 2020 at 4:00pm and inurnment will follow immediately after at Emerald Hills Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the family to cover burial costs and can be mailed to Anita Kay Watkins Womack to 601 Maple Avenue, Burleson, Texas 76028.  Flowers can be sent to Emerald Hills Funeral Home for the memorial service.
