ARLINGTON -- Genevieve Irene Carson, 91, died peacefully Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at an Arlington hospital after a short illness.
Memorial service: After a private Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, she will be buried in Michigan.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5819 Pleasant Ridge Rd., Arlington, Texas 76016, in her honor.
Genevieve was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Detroit, Mich., the middle of three sisters. After graduating from Chadsey High School in Detroit, she married Joseph W. Carson on May 25, 1940, and moved to Allen Park, Mich. She worked for several years as a bookkeeper for A&P Tea Company and in her later years was a site manager for the Senior Citizens Food Program in Allen Park. Genevieve was a gifted seamstress and spent many happy hours sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting. She was proud of sewing her daughter's formal wedding gown and dresses for all the bridal attendants. She later sewed a great many dresses and other clothes for her granddaughters. She and her husband relocated to Arlington 22 years ago to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Carson.
Survivors: Daughter, Judy Linderman, and son-in-law, John Linderman of Arlington; son, Lawrence Carson and wife, Janice, of Mill Valley, Calif.; granddaughters, Kim Harrison and husband, Cliff, of Overland Park, Kan., Heidi Robertson and husband, Mark, of Kennedale; and precious great-grandchildren, Nicole Harrison, Ashley Harrison, Emilie Robertson and John Robertson.
