Geoffrey Lynn Johnson passed away peacefully at his home in Arlington Texas. Geoffrey, or Papa Geof as he was known by his family and loved ones was born February 8, 1951 in Onalaska, Wisconsin to John and Dorothy (nee Bey) Johnson.
He grew up in La Crosse Wisconsin playing and fishing on the banks of the mighty Mississippi. Geof graduated from Central High School in 1969. After high school he attended Western Wisconsin Tech and graduated in 1971 with an Associate’s degree in Marketing. Geof moved to Minneapolis, MN to work for Target Foods as a night stocker and he later moved to Oklahoma City as Operations Manager for one year, where he met his wife, Rebecca (nee Rocheleau). Becky and Geoff married in Oklahoma City in March of 1973. Shortly after they married, they moved to Arlington, Texas, where they remained for the rest of his life.
Geof began working with United Parcel Service and he retired from UPS in 2007 after 26 years of service. Geof was the kind of UPS driver we all wish he could have delivered our packages, kind, courteous, always looking to offer the best customer service possible. He loved to drive his big brown truck all around Arlington and made his job at UPS a true career.
Geof was an avid outdoorsman who loved to camp and fish, some of his family’s favorite memories of him are spending time fishing. He loved music, particularly the drums and was a drummer his entire life, he loved to listen to the music of old musicians most of us have never knew played the drums. Geof loved old cars, from the Simca he drove in high school to the Chevrolet Impala he bought on his way home from vacation.
Geof was a consummate family man, he loved to spend time with family and friends and tell bad jokes to all he met. He never met a stranger and loved to take his grandchildren and nieces and nephew to the parks and the zoo and to share his love of the outdoors and animals with them. He was happiest watching old TV reruns with his grandkids and family.
Geof is survived by his wife, Becky of Arlington, Texas; his daughter, Jade and her partner Joshua Voles, of Arlington, Texas; his grandchildren, Victoria (nee Flores) and her husband James Gray of Ft Worth, Texas, Tristan Flores and Natalie Robinson of Arlington, Texas; his sister, Marilyn Brissey; niece, Margaret Jean Miller, both of Torrance, California; his brother-in-law, Rodrigue Rocheleau and his wife Vivianne Rocheleau of Mason, New Hampshire; his sister-in-law, Renee Rocheleau-Lucero and her husband Scott Lucero; his niece and nephew, Gillian and Andrew Lucero all of Alexandria, Virginia.
