FOREST HILL -- George Edward Harris, a professor emeritus at Texas Christian University, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillside Memorial Christian Church. Private interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park before service. Visitation: The family will be available after the service in the church's fellowship hall.
George greatly influenced the lives of many: his children, schoolchildren, Boy Scout members and college students. He was born in Fulton County, Ind., on Friday, July 13, 1928.He was an accomplished handyman and builder. He had been active in the Boy Scouts over 65 years. He was honored with the Silver Beaver Award in 1991 for his work and dedication to the Boy Scout program. He also served the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as a minister in rural Missouri and Texas. He was a dedicated husband, father, teacher, professor, Scout leader and friend.
Survivors: His wife of 55 years, Jean Harris; children, Cathy Tinetti (Steve), David Harris, Carla Dods (David) and Val R. Harris (Marilee); grandchildren, Daniel and Dylan Tinetti, Galen and Melissa Dods and Lydia and Emily Harris; and a host of other family and friends.
