Gloria June McGregor-Combs, passed away peacefully at Rambling Oaks Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, October 10th in Flower Mound, Texas at the age of 78.

Gloria is survived by her children, Kelly McGregor of Azle, Texas and Kyle McGregor of Stephenville, Texas; sister Janet Collins of Moody, Texas and brother David Eakin of Killeen, Texas; and grandchildren Macy, Maggie, Meg, and Ethan. She is preceded in death by her parents, CD and Clara Eakin of Moody, Texas; loving husband Doc Combs, of Moody, Texas and Jerry McGregor of Fort Worth, Texas.

Gloria was born on February 4th, 1946, in Temple, Texas to CD and Clara Eakin. Raised on her family’s multigeneration farm with her siblings in Moody, where she graduated from high school. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and a master’s degree from Prairie View A&M University. Gloria dedicated her professional career to the service of children and their learning as a science educator. She taught in the Coppers Cove, Belton and Moody Independent School Districts for 30-years. In 2007, she married Doc Combs in their church home, First Baptist Church, Moody.

Her children remember her as a loving, selfless mother who put them ahead of her own ambitions, wants, and desires. Providing plenty as a single mother, her children never went without the necessities or life experiences that exposed them to the world. She was an exceptionally hard worker and remarkable educator who maintained high expectations of her children and students. She had an unwavering faith and was a dedicated member of her church.

Gloria was passionate about her family and travel. She always had time for her children and grandchildren, loving and supporting them unconditionally. After her retirement in 2002, it was not uncommon for her to travel to far away places with friends or family, all-the-while planning her next trip. She was a generous with her time, volunteering at church and school activities.

The funeral is scheduled for November 1, 2024, at First Baptist Church Moody. Pastor Ken Laney will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate “Glo’s” life.
