Howard Wells Schutt

Howard W. Schutt II, 85, passed away on November 13, 2023, in Mansfield, Texas. He was born on August 9, 1938, in Austin, Texas to Howard W. Schutt and Mildred (McCollum) Schutt.

Howard grew up in Austin, Texas and graduated from McCallum High School in 1956. After high school he attended college at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas where he received a Bachelor’s in History. He also attended seminary at Southwestern Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas where he received a Master’s of Divinity. Howard pastored in Texas and Kansas for the next 35 years and participated in the Intentional Interim Program during retirement. 

Howard married Sue Fairchild in November, 1960, in Gatesville, Texas.  They were happily married for 63 years. Howard enjoyed traveling, sports, spending time with his family, and studying scriptures. 

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard W. Schutt and Mildred McCollum Schutt; brother-in-law, Clifton Nauert; and son-in-law, Randy Beckett.

Howard is survived by his wife, Sue Schutt of Mansfield, Texas; his daughters, Melanie Beckett of Mansfield, Texas and Kristi Henderson and her husband, Rob Henderson, of Arlington, Texas; sister, Carolyn Nauert of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Brittany French, Karli Garza and her husband, Rafael Garza, and Tyler Beckett; his great-grandchildren Hayden Henderson-Tawater and Beckett French; and nephews, Craig Nauert and his wife, Cindy Nauert, Clark Nauert and Colin Nauert.

A funeral service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale, Texas at 10:00am on Thursday, November 16, 2023.  Burial will follow at Emerald Hills Memorial Park.
