James Ray Bowen, 63, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 in Arlington. He was born on August 25, 1957 in Dumas, Texas to James Edward Bowen and Louella Bowen.
Ray grew up in Sunray, Texas. He graduated from Sunray High School in Sunray, Texas in 1975. After high school he worked high rise construction in Dallas for twelve years and then worked for Siemen’s Electrocom in Arlington where he was a supervisor. Ray worked for UTA Arlington in the facilities department as a master carpenter for seven years.
Ray married Christi Bray in 1984 in Fort Worth, Texas. They were happily married for 36 years. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed woodworking making his sister a cedar hope chest while in high school for his sister’s graduation.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Bowen.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Christi Bowen; daughter, Brandi Bowen of Virginia; son, Dustin Parker and wife Brittnie of Arlington; grandchildren, Alyssa McCullough of Virginia and Shay Fowler of Virginia; mother, Louella Bowen; sister, Bellinda Gay Rockafellow; niece, Lindsay and son Timothy Rockafellow; and best friend, Kevin Burrell and wife Teresa and children Nick, Kirk, Bobby, Tien, and Thao.
A memorial service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home in Kennedale, Texas on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11:30AM with inurnment to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s or SPCA.
