James Lowell “Jim” Brown 83, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017.
Memorial Service: 1p.m.  Friday, July 28, 2017 at Genesis United Methodist Church, 7635 S. Hulen St., Fort Worth, Tx 76133.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Genesis United Methodist Church.
Inurnment: 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017.

Born March 12, 1934 in Stephenville, Texas. Jim attended Paschal High School and Texas Christian University. He was drafted into the Army in 1956 and honorably discharged in 1958. He resided in Everman, Texas where he served on the City Council, a volunteer with the fire department, and was a member of Everman Jaycees. He was employed by Texas Steel Company as Purchasing Manager and retired in 1999. During this time, he was a member of the National Association of Purchasing  Managers and served as president 1995 – 1996, after which he earned a lifetime membership. He served on the NAPM golf committee presenting scholarships to various local colleges. After retirement, Jim became involved in volunteer work. He was on the board for the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce until the time of his death. He also served on the transportation committee for the Chisholm Trail Toll Road. He was an active member of Genesis United Methodist Church, where he was head usher and served on several committees.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, who he married on May 6, 1955, Ouida Rae Smith; daughter Lisa Brown; brother, Jerry Brown and wife, Norma; sister, Nancy McNiel and husband, Ronnie; nephews, Lance McNiel and Brian Nelson; nieces, Cindy Medlock and husband, Bruce, Melanie Brown, Katy Brown Kerlee, Melissa Brown; and great-nieces and nephews.
