Janis Shockley, 77, passed away on April 2, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Janis attended college at Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, Louisiana and Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana. Janis retired from the Fort Worth Housing Authority in 2015 where she worked for 26 years. Janis was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed genealogy, cooking, word games and spending time with her family, neighbors and many long-time friends who loved her and will miss her very much.
Janis was preceded in death by her father George E. Carney; mother Elsie Evelyn Morgan; ex-husband Barry Thomas Shockley; half-sister June Carpenter; and grandson Zachary Killinger.
Janis is survived by daughters Michelle Killinger and Shea Shockley; half-brothers Perry Watters, George “Buddy” Carney and Steve Carney; half-sisters Judy Carney and Joette Carney; grandchildren Christopher Froelich and Avery “Ashe” Shockley; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home 500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale, Texas at 10:00 am on June 10, 2024.
