Flora Jean Kemp, 87, passed away November 28, 2022, at Mansfield Methodist Hospital. She was born on April 4, 1935, in Fort Worth, Texas to Dewy and Elsie Jordan.
Jean grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1952, where she majored in cosmetology. After high school, she worked at the phone company before starting a family with her husband.
Jean Jordan married Johnny Kemp in 1954. They were happily married for 53 years. Jean loved to cook, read, crochet, play card games, and tell stories about her adventurous childhood. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, collecting shoes, and playing piano. She carried purses almost as big as her heart and could give you directions anywhere you wanted to go. Most of all, Jean loved to take care of her family; something at which she excelled. She was kind, supportive, and generous. She easily adapted to changing times, and never stopped smiling.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Elsie and Dewy, her sister Patricia, and her husband Johnny.
Jean is survived by her twin sister Jane, daughters Pam and Cindy, grand-daughters Miranda and Katie, great grand-daughter Reagan, nieces Debbie and Cathie and their loving families.
A grave side memorial service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale-Sublet Road, Kennedale TX, at 1:30 PM, Friday December 2, 2022.
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote “To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” In this way, Jean Kemp was an overwhelming success. She now lives eternally in a ‘mansion just over the hilltop’ with Jesus forever by her side.
A life well lived is a precious gift
Of hope and strength and grace,
From someone who has made our world
A brighter, better place.
It’s filled with moments, sweet and sad
With smiles and sometimes tears,
With friendships formed and good times shared
And laughter throughout the years.
A life well lived is a legacy
Of joy and pride and pleasure,
A living, lasting memory
Our grateful hearts will treasure.
