Jeffery Lee Powell

Jeffery ‘Puddin’ Lee Powell, 60, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital in Dallas, Tx. He was born on August 14, 1963, in Austin, Tx to Johnny and Dorothy (Carlisle) Powell.

Jeff grew up in Covington, Tx. He graduated from Covington High School in Covington, Tx in 1981. After high school he joined the Plumbers and Pipefitter Apprenticeship program in Austin, Tx where he completed his program to become a Journeyman. Jeff began working through both the UA Local 286 and UA Local 100 with several fantastic companies including DSI, Brandt Engineering and Box Mechanical throughout the next 34 years. Jeff was a devout parishioner at Crestview Baptist church.

Jeff married Phyllis in 1986 in Cleburne, Tx. They were married for 38 wonderful years. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, deer hunting, participating in Special Olympics sports with Jacob and spending time with his large family. He always had a smile on his face, a joke at the ready and could give you directions to just about anywhere. He was always happy to help anyone in need and was constantly demonstrating what a big heart he had. 

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Dorothy Powell, brother Alan Naven and Uncle Alvin Powell.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Arlington, Tx; his sons, Samuel (Amy) Cordero of Austin, Tx and Jacob Powell of Arlington, Tx and his daughters Ysidra (Brad) Pike of Terrell, Tx, Cortney (Erin) Kinney of Mansfield, Tx and Sara (Brad) Burnett of Arlington, Tx; his grandchildren Kayla, Robert, Katie, Hunter, Christian, Jeanine and Xylon; and his great-grandchild Paisley and his sister, Brenda (Lawrence) Powell Heckman of Cedar Creek, Tx.

The family will be greeting friends and relatives at 12:00 pm, Friday, April 26, 2024, followed by visitation at Emerald Hills Funeral Home 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale, TX 76060. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Emerald Hills Cemetery. A memorial service with light refreshments will be held at VFW Post 6111 located at 1200 W. Harris Rd, Arlington, TX at 3:00 pm, Friday, April 26, 2024.
