Mrs. Joetta Wilkie

March 31, 1928 — May 2, 2014

Joetta was born on March 1928 in Fort Worth, TX to Joseph and Aline Woods. She married October 15, 1955 to Joe Andrew Wilkie of Fort Worth, TX. Joetta graduated from Polytechnic High school in Fort Worth, TX – class of 1945. Her early career included the Fort Worth Star-Telegram newspaper, the local gas company, and Western Electric. Joetta and Joe started their family with the birth of her first son, Joe Phillip, in 1957. Two years later, she gave birth to their second son, Scott Russell. She returned to the work force, this time working with children as an assistant physical education teacher in the elementary grades of the Fort Worth Independent School District. Upon completion of her career within the public school system, the Wilkie's and their close friends (Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brady) opened the Meadowbrook Health Food Store, and shortly thereafter opened their second location in South Fort Worth. After many years as a small business owner, Joetta retired to pursue her love of art, poetry, and antiques. As a simple and religious person, Joetta was dedicated to her family and husband of 59 years.

Joetta is survived by her husband Joe Wilkie; two sons, Joe Phillip and Scott Russell and their families. Two grandchildren, Chris Wilkie (spouse, Christina) and Brandy Bounds (spouse, Jeremy); four great-grandchildren, Mayson, Londyn, Sydney, and Brayden. Joetta is also survived by her loving and devoted sister, Mrs. Doris O'Donel of Huntsville, AL (They were not just Sisters, they were best friends). Joetta is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.

Joetta was preceded in death by her parents.
