John Paul Williams, 82, passed away on January 1, 2021 at his home with his family in Decatur, Texas. He was born on August 3, 1938 in Fort Worth, Texas to Melvin and Juandine (McMillan) Williams.
He grew up in Glenwood (East Fort Worth) and attended Poly High School.
After high school he drove a dump truck working for his Dad. He later worked for Lennox Air Conditioning and in 1980 became a partner with his Dad and brother Mike to form M.L. Williams and Sons Sand/Gravel/Excavation and Demolition and retired in 1990.
He was a Shriner in his early adulthood.
John married Katy in 1972 in Durant, Oklahoma. They were happily married for 47 years.
He enjoyed working on home improvement projects, spending time with Katy at their summer home in Colorado, fishing on the Brazos River and at their homes on various lakes. He became a Casinos fan in his later years, mainly the nickel slots.
John was preceded in death by his wife Katy, parents Melvin and Juandine, his brother Jerry and his son Stacy.
John is survived by his son John Paul Williams Jr. (Kelly) of Bowie, daughters Diane Cockrell (Les) of Decatur, Carrie Criss (Hoyt) of Baytown, brother Mike Williams (Doris) of Richland Hills, Carl Williams (Jan) of Weatherford, grandchildren Trisha Earp, April Couch, Tarrah Lett, Hoyt Criss Jr. and Megan Criss. Great grandchildren Clay, Meredith, Jesse, Leona, Lincoln, Emory, Angelle, Colton and two great-great grandchildren, Jay and Raylynn.
