John Lester Shepherd Jr, a lifelong resident of Fort Worth, passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2020. He was 63 when he was called home.
John entered this world on June 24, 1957 to John Lester Shepherd Sr and Anna Mary (Craig) Shepherd. John grew up in Fort Worth and attended Travis Ave. Baptist Church.
One of his hobbies was rebuilding cars. As a young boy he would build and repair Slot Cars. He would take them to Mr. Cones track on McCart St. and race them with his friends after school and on weekends. He transferred that knowledge to lawn mowers and small engines. As a teen John would work to make money by mowing lawns.
John was a generous and kind soul. There were several retired people who lived in his neighborhood. It was typical to find John mowing their lawns and helping them out with household chores on the weekends without thought of pay. John was a licensed HVAC mechanic.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dean Doyle, Billy Ray Doyle, and Larry Shepherd. One sister, Linda Villanueva.
Those left to cherish his memories are one son, John Lester Shepherd III; three daughters, Monica Shepherd, Samantha Whitmore, and Tristan Shepherd; brother, Richard Doyle; three sisters, Bettie Batis, Mary Parks, and Sharon Fisher; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
