Johnnie Mcdearmont

Johnnie Ruth Duke Guillory McDearmont was born January 7, 1935 in Long Leaf, LA to John Aleck Duke and Mary Ruth (Lawson) Duke. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 15, 2018.  Johnnie raised three beautiful children with her then husband, L.J. Guillory Jr.  Later in life, she fell in love and married a gentle God fearing man, Thomas McDearmont.  She also attended South Oaks Baptist Church of Arlington which is where she met Thomas.  Johnnie was most proud of her work at San Jacinto College-South where she taught Floral Design and served as the Library Secretary for over 25 years.  She never stopped talking about the library work, students, and how proud she was when they graduated or moved on to a university continuing their education.  She always told the young, “Your education is one thing no one can ever take away from you.”

Her parents, and brothers Jerry and Buddy Duke preceded her in death, but her memory, and spirit still carry on in her sister, Margarie Eernisse, brother, Randy Willis, Sister-in-law Ramona Duke; husband, Thomas McDearmont; daughters, Charlotte Serwinski, husband Ed, Dolores Weichert; son, L.J. Guillory III, wife Carol; grandchildren Brittni Serwinski Willis, husband Robert, Joseph Serwinski, Jeffrey Serwinski ; Mickey Owen, wife Cecilia, Tracey Cavin, husband Cody, Chris Guillory Frazier, David Condon, wife Cindy; great grandchildren Chase Owen, Sabrina Owen, Kennedy Cavin, David Condon Jr., Jacob Condon, Nathan Condon.

Funeral service for Ms. McDearmont will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:00A.M. at Emerald Hills Funeral Home with Dr. Dan Curry officiating.  Visitation will be Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 7:00-9:00PM at Emerald Hills Funeral Home in Kennedale.  Services are under the direction of Emerald Hills Funeral Home.
