Joseph and Margaret Gigante
ARLINGTON -- Joseph Anthony Gigante and Margaret Mary Gigante decided to go home together after 69 years of marriage. Margaret passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, and Joseph passed Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Wednesday in Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel, 500 Sublett Road, Kennedale. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Joseph was born Oct. 20, 1917, in Garfield, N.J. He was the youngest of four children. He married Margaret Mary O'Connell on June 28, 1942, and they had three children. Joseph retired from Consolidated Laundries Corp. in Brooklyn, N.Y., after 43 years.
Margaret was born Feb. 2, 1920, in New York City. She was the oldest of four children. Margaret devoted her life to her three children.
Joseph and Margaret moved to Arlington in March 1985. They were devout members of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. They were preceded in death by Margaret's brother, William "Billy" O'Connell.
Survivors: Daughter, Jeanne Wood and husband, Stephen D. Wood; son, Richard Gigante and wife, Caroline; daughter, Eleanor Paul and husband, William J. Paul; brother, Robert O'Connell; grandchildren, Michele and Gregg Gigante and Nicole Rochelle; and three great-grandchildren.
