Joseph Samuel McCoy passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, in Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel.
He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio, to George and Mary McCoy. After graduation from high school, he entered the U.S. Navy where he served as navigator on an LST. After serving 23 years, he retired in 1967 with the rank of master chief.
In 1946, Joe married Marciel Beeman and raised three children.
Joe and Marsh enjoyed traveling around the country in their motor home to attend Southern gospel music concerts. He loved to fish and play golf with his sons, Joe Jr. and Steve.
He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George McCoy Jr., and sister, Mary Margaret.
Survivors: He will be remembered with love by his wife of 64 years, Marsh; his sons, Joe McCoy and Steve McCoy; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Robert Pound; his honorary daughter, Cindy McManus; and grandchildren, Scott and Melisa Pound, Bryan Pound, Cathy McManus Podd, Sean McManus and Colleen McManus.
