Joy’s Legacy
Joy Ann was delivered into this world January 3, 1935 and born to eternity on her favorite day of the year, 25 December, 2023. She was at peace knowing that she was going to get to see her Jim and her Jesus.
Joy’s biggest loves in life was her Lord and family; her Jim, her kids [Bitsy & Frank, Tim, Judie/Alx & Ronnie], her grands [Tiffany & Kirk, Nichelle & Eric, Melody & Tom, Kassey & Daniel, Avery & Carlie], her greats [Greyson, EllaKay, Presley, Kai, Acacia, Boston] her mom and dad, her brothers & sisters, neices & nephews. Joy’s love of family included a legacy of “family” born of other mothers.
“I need to comfort someone else” -Isaih 40:1
Joy’s love language was definetly service. She & her Jim loved to go into nursing homes and play gospel for the residents. They volunteered at food banks [Joy feeding the families “soul food” and Jim loading up and delivering the physical food]. They volunteered with the Good Samaritans, as elders in any church they were associated with, and within their community. They loved playing Santa & Mrs. Claus. Every Christmas for a good 15 years, they decorated their little house on Roosevelt in Dalworthington Gardens like Santa’s Workshop. Jim made a big red sleigh and Joy would scour all the stores for candy canes and polaroid film. When their “season” came, cars would fill the parking lot of Key Elementary where they were also the crossing guards. During the hot days, Jim would load a wheelbarrow with cold drinks for the kids and Joy would hand them out. When it was cold, you would find Joy and a few kids piled into their little blue truck with the heater on until parents came.
“Be kind and compassionate to one another...” Eph. 4:32
Joy never met a stranger. Her motto was always give a hug, a word, and a smile to everyone you meet. So now, Jesus, Jim, and Joy Ann are on the road again on an even bigger adventure...I wonder if her little blue truck made it to Heaven as well.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you donate to your local food bank in Joy’s name
