Rebecca Kay Moore Sims, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Legacy Oaks Senior Living of Midlothian, Texas.  She was born on October 6, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee to Claris Curtis Moore Sr. and Elizabeth Sanders Moore.

Kay grew up in Hughes, Arkansas. She graduated from Hughes High School in Hughes, Arkansas in 1960. After high school she attended Ouachita Baptist University at Arkadelphia, Arkansas where she received a Bachelor of Education.  She began work for West Memphis school district as an elementary teacher for 17 years.  During these years she was very involved as a member of First Baptist Church of West Memphis, Arkansas.  She was the Director of Preschool/Kindergarten for a couple of years during that time.  After 17 years in West Memphis, Wayne and Kay moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas where she continued teaching in elementary for the Fort Smith School District.  She retired in 2002 after teaching for 34 years.

Kay married Wayne Sims in Hughes, Arkansas on December 28, 1964. They were happily married for 58 years.

Kay was preceded in death by her father, Claris Curtis Moore Sr.; mother, Elizabeth Sanders Moore; and her sister Shirley Trotter.

Kay is survived by her husband, Wayne, of Fort Smith, Arkansas;  son, Greg Sims and Daughter in law, Shey, along with two grandchildren, Casey and Josiah, all of Cordova, Tennessee; daughter, Shannon Sims Mints and Son in Law, Paul, along with two grandchildren, Chandler (wife, Hannah and son Jack) and Kayleigh Mints all of Mansfield, Texas; sister, Bettye Creamer and husband Herb of Dallas, Texas; and brother, Curtis Moore and wife, Sara of Waco, Texas.

A visitation will be held at Jones Funeral Home at 105 W. 3rd. Ave. Crossett, Arkansas 71635 at 2pm, Tuesday, May 30, 2023.  A memorial graveside service will be held at Pinewood Memorial Park Cemetery at 3:30pm, Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Legacy Oaks of Midlothian for the incredible care they gave to our family during this time.
