Kay Coach Smith came into this world February 22nd 1944 along with her twin sister Fay in Marshall, Texas. Kay and Fay were the only siblings to be born in a hospital. They moved to Fort Worth in 1960 where she graduated from Castleberry High School. As a child in grade school when Kay would view a scene she said that she would take a picture with her mind. This would become a lifelong passion for her. She went to work for a photography studio when she was sixteen and worked there for several years. It was the first studio in Fort Worth that made color pictures. There she photographed Fort Worth’s famous and infamous citizens. Over the decades she photographed thousands of brides and weddings. In the 1970’s she was a photographer for the Texas Rangers. She also photographed thousands of newborn babies at Harris Hospital. She was a member of The Professional Photographers Association and won national and local awards with photos that she took of families. She eventually set up a studio in her home and always had numerous pictures of her customers on the walls and throughout her home. She was a member of First Methodist Church downtown and most recently at Genesis Methodist church where she enjoyed volunteering in the church office. She also dearly loved spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Grissom. She is survived by her sister Fay Warbrotton, daughter Shelly Cavin, daughter Lisa Smith McFall and Jeff McFall, granddaughters Cassidy Martin, Caroline Cavin and Grace McFall, 4 great grandchildren Natalie, Addy, Liam and Sterling and several nieces and nephews. Thank you all for coming to offer your love and condolence
