Larry Lehman Helsel Sr., 77, passed away peacefully on Jan 1, 2021 at Revere Court Memory Care facility in Arlington, Texas. He was born June 5, 1943 in Columbus Ohio to Paul Eugene and Ruth Grinstead Helsel. Larry grew up in Okeechobee, Florida on a cattle ranch. He graduated from Okeechobee High School where he was an honor student and an award-winning trombone player in the high school band. He attended the University of Miami where he received a degree in electrical engineering, after which he accepted a position at LTV in Dallas as an electrical design engineer where he worked for 34 years.
Larry married Judith Ann Tucker in 1969 in Dallas, Tx and they were lovingly married for 51 years. Larry enjoyed watching old western movies, gardening, playing bridge and having fun with the grandchildren. He most enjoyed going to Colorado for 16 years after his retirement in 2000 where he traveled with Judy and went hiking and bird watching .
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother Paul Eugene Helsel Jr. He is survived by his wife Judith Helsel of Arlington; son Larry Jr. (Lee) and spouse Gina and grandchildren Connor and Lily Helsel of Austin; sister Lynn Richards and spouse Terry and sister Trudy Helsel of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd in Kennedale, Texas at 2:30 on December 18th 2021.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Revere Court Memory Care of Arlington, Texas for their love and support while Larry was in their care.
