Lela Ray, born in March 1930 to Delbert & Lela Hardin in San Antonio passed peacefully from this world into the arms of the Lord on July 30, 2014.
Lela shared twenty years as a loving wife to Walter Nelson until his passing in 1968. She found comfort in family and remarried Larry G. Ray and enjoyed twenty more years together until his passing in 1996. Her family remembers Lela's love of giving to others and her involvement in an organization that would donate handmade baby quilts to children all over the world. She was an outstanding mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend.
Lela will join in Heaven her father, Delbert, son, Brian Nelson, daughter, Debbie "Nelson" Byrd.
Those left to cherish her memory include: mother, Lela Fitzgerald, daughters, Darla and husband Boyd Hebdon & Linda Brown, son-in-law, Phil Byrd, sisters, Lela and husband Neil Wade, Grace and husband Sam Martinez, 13 grandchildren, 26 great grand children, numerous extended family and friends.
