Leonard Leon Beard passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Good Friday, April 15, 2022 in Alvarado, Texas. He was 79 years old. He was born on November 20, 1942 in Borger, Texas to father, Edd Prince Beard and mother, Mary Magdeline Beard. He grew up in multiple towns in the Texas Panhandle. He graduated in 1961 from Decatur High School in Decatur, Texas. He went on to serve 6 years in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1968. It was during this time he met his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathleen. He ended up in Arlington, TX where he and his wife raised their daughter, Cynthia. He worked for GE (General Electric) for 27 years and retired in 2003 living in Alvarado. He enjoyed walking on his land, planting and watering his many trees. He also very much enjoyed fixing and maintaining his vehicles and home. He was very meticulous when it came to proper care and maintenance of everything. You could always rely on him for advice on how to fix just about anything. His hobbies were riding his Goldwing motorcycle, and collecting and refinishing all different kinds of oak clocks. He also very much enjoyed spending time with his two grandchildren whom he cherished. He loved being their "Grandpop” Leon enjoyed going to Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for the last 15 years, and loved studying the Bible and sharing Jesus with others. He had a tender heart for animals of all kinds and gave to several animal and wildlife charities among several other charities.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edd Prince Beard, Mary Magdeline Beard, step mothers, Minnie Beard and Gladys Beard, siblings, Eddie Joe Beard, George Dale Beard, Darla Susann Bowyer. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Beard, daughter, Cynthia Meyers, Son in law, Craig Meyers, grandchildren, Nathaniel and Emily Meyers, stepsister, Martha Beard, sister-in-law, Maryanne Ott, sister in law, Jean Beard and numerous nephew, nieces relatives and friends he loved.
