Linda Kay (McDougal) Day, also known as the Great Nana, 78, passed away on December 10, 2022, at her home, in Arlington, Texas. She was born on May 23,1944, in Lubbock, Texas to Roy and Vela (Wassom) McDougal.
Linda grew up in Lubbock, Texas. She attended Lubbock High School in Lubbock, Texas. Linda married George Hollins in 1960 in Lubbock, Texas. They later moved to Grand Prairie, Texas where they raised their two daughters. They attended church. Linda was a Sunday School teacher and George a youth director. You would often find the youth kids at their home. They were later divorced, and Linda married Larry Day. Even after their divorce Linda and George worked together to co-parent their great grandson. Linda treasured the relationship she had with all 17 great grandchildren.
Linda worked in a sandwich shoppe and later become a small business owner of a sandwich shoppe. She served the best pita sandwiches around. After closing the sandwich shoppe she began a career in the printing industry where she worked in Customer Service and Sales. Linda always went above and beyond for her customers. If you ever talked to Linda over the phone, you could picture her smile.
Linda was preceded in death her parents, Roy & Vela McDougal; her sister, Barbara Gorman; her brother-in-law, Bob Downing; her nephew, Wayne Downing; the father of her daughters, George Hollins; as well as her great grandchildren, Aria Grace & Lincoln David.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Leanna (Michael) Montez of Arlington, Texas, and Myra (Nathan) Castles of Arlington, Texas; her sister, Dorothy Downing of Arlington, Tennessee; her brother, Jimmy (Debbie) McDougal of Arlington, Texas; her grandchildren, Candace Miller of Arlington, Texas, Rachael (Johnny) McCoy of Waxahachie, Texas, Stevie (Grant) Watson of Bullard, Texas, Kayla (Jesse Estrade) Montez of Waxahachie, Texas, Jacob Glenn of Malvern, Arkansas; her great grandchildren, Lilith, Lindsey, Andrew, Hailee, Mason, Casey, Noah, Olivia, Sloan, Jesus, Spencer, Samuel, Savannah, Charlotte & Shephard; as well as many other people who knew and loved her. Linda was blessed to find out that the day before she passed her 18th great grandchild was a boy due in June 2023.
A memorial service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale, Texas 76060 at 3:00 pm December 16th.
Linda was loved and is missed by all that knew her.
