ARLINGTON -- Marcelle G. McCluney, 90, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday in Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Marcelle was born to Grace and Harry Ellison on Dec. 5, 1921, in Rector, Ark., where he was raised. On Sept. 22, 1941, she married her loving husband, Myron McCluney. They relocated to Warren, Mich., early in their marriage. She was the proud and devoted mother of six children and a proud "Grandma" to 20 grandchildren whom she adored. She also was a loyal and dedicated wife. She worked as a nurse's aide. She believed in helping others and doing the little things that brought happiness to those around her. In 1976 Myron and Marcelle retired and moved to Sherman. There she spent her time doing the things she enjoyed, including fishing, crocheting, cooking, gardening and, most of all, spending time with her family. Mom will be best remembered for her giving nature and concern for others. For those that knew her well, she will be remembered for her hospitality, spunk and love of independency. We love you and will miss you, Mom!
She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Myron; daughter, Sue Proctor; granddaughter, Jill McCluney Franklin; and grandson, John Allevato.
Survivors: Son, Robert McCluney and wife, Diane; daughters, Patricia Allevato and husband, John, Bette Creswell, Cindy Ehrlich and husband, Steve, and Diane Gillespie; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
