Mary Sylvia Cantrell

Mary Sylvia Cantrell, 85 years old, passed away on October 17, 2024, at her home in Comanche, Texas. She was born on August 4, 1939, in Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada to Harold Simon and Elizabeth Gabriel Simon.

Mary grew up in Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada. She left the island and moved to Toronto, Canada to work as a waitress in the late 1950's. She returned to Newfoundland and worked as a waitress for a while; after she returned home, she met a handsome Airman, named Howard Cantrell who was assigned to Ernest Harmon Air Force Base in Stephenville, Newfoundland.

Mary married Howard in 1959 after she immigrated to the United States in Fort Worth. They were happily married for 51years. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church, Kennedale, Texas. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking, cooking, reading, and gardening. She accepted Christ as her Savior a few years ago.

Mary was preceded in death by her dad and mother, Harold and Elizabeth Simon; and several of her siblings.

Mary is survived by her son Kenny Cantrell (and wife Kim) Cantrell of Texas; son Patrick Cantrell (and wife Shelly) Cantrell of Texas; daughter Elizabeth (and her husband Buddy) Roush of Arkansas; many wonder grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd. Kennedale, Texas 76060 at 12:00 Noon Tuesday October 22,2024
