Mary Ann Dake, 72, travelled from earth to glory Friday, October 29, 2010.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel with interment to follow in Laurel Land Memorial Park, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel.
She was a loving mother, devoted wife and caring sister, aunt and friend. She laughingly referred to her self as a "Diva" and she loved her "bling."
She met her husband, Donald Dean Dake, while serving in the Air Force at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, Louisiana. Finishing her enlistment, she entered upon a secretarial career ranging from civil service to executive secretary at Edison's Jewelry in Fort Worth. She then attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Fort Worth, where she was then hired as a medical/surgical nurse. She left her nursing career to care for her ailing husband.
She was preceded in death by her father, Noel Foster Hyder Sr.; mother, Ida Dot Heath Hyder; and son, Daniel Dean Dake.
Survivors: She is survived by her husband, Donald Dake of Crowley; daughter, Donna Dake-Williams and husband, Steve, of Joshua; grandchildren, Amanda Godlewski and husband, Carl, of Burleson, Anthony Dobbs and wife, Karen, of La Grange, Kentucky, Aaron Hewett and wife, Amanda, of Alvarado; great-grandchildren, Connor and Daniel of Burleson, Nicholas and Breanna of La Grange, Kentucky, and Riley of Alvarado; brothers, Harold Cobb Sr. of Whitney and Noel F Hyder Jr. and wife, Linda, of Orange; sisters, Dorothy Maxine Tatum of Burleson and Donna Beth Mazzella of Burleson; nieces; nephews; a host of other family members; and many, many friends.
