Our sweet “Momma”, “Grannie”, “Aunt Ouie”, Mary Dolores Roberson, passed away peacefully at home with the love of her life by her side on January 12, 2021. She was 89, born on May 31, 1931 in Mertins, TX to Robert Lee Woods and Tressie (Bailey) Woods.
Dolores grew up in Fort Worth’s Poly neighborhood and attended school through 9th grade in the FWISD. On August 14, 1948, at the age of 17, Dolores married Donald Wesley Roberson in Fort Worth, TX. They were happily married for 73 years.
She reminded us frequently that her greatest accomplishment was her family. In addition to raising four children (and extending her home and love to many), she was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Forest Hill, where she served as Church Camp leader, Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, and hosted a women’s bible study group in her home. Dolores also served on the Forest Hill Volunteer Fire Department Lady’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing, sewing, painting and crafting, especially when she was sharing these things with family and friends.
She had an amazing faith that she poured out freely into anyone near throughout her life. Her legacy of faith, family and love will live on for generations, simply because she taught us all that “Jesus loves you, and so do I”.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents Mr & Mrs. R. L. Woods; grandchildren Wendy Roberson, Jenny Newton, Ryan Newton; great-grandchildren Jordyn Holmes, Michael Roberson; son-in-law Dennis Lehman; and brother-in-law Bill Martin.
Dolores is survived by her husband, Donald Roberson of Joshua; sons, Jimmy Don Roberson and wife Debbie of Nemo, Charles Roberson and wife Cassie of Joshua; daughters, Debra Lehman of Joshua, Dianna and husband Mark Prince of Joshua; brother Robert Woods and wife Deyanne of Clayton, OK; sister Pat Martin of Glen Rose, TX; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Dolores’ Nephews, Dr. Regan Miller and Kenny Cantrell will officiate the service in her honor.
