Melvin Ray Haughn, 92, passed away on 26, August 2023 at his home in Rendon, Texas. He was born on July 07, 1931, in Southard, Oklahoma to Harold and Eva Rauh Haughn.

  • Melvin joined the Army in 1951 and served for 8 years. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1959.
  • Melvin worked as a heavy equipment operator.
  • He and his wife Shirley were foster parents and took numerous children into their care over the years.
  • He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodwork, and spending time with grandkids.

Melvin married Shirley in 1978 in Ft. Worth, TX and remained happily married for 24 years prior to her death.  He missed her greatly until he was called home to join her. 

Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents, Harold and Eva; brothers, Gene and Frank.

Melvin is survived by his step-sons, Frank wife Lynnice Long, Daniel wife Michelle Long and Steve wife Nannette Long; grandchildren, Ginger Steinman, Phillip Dunn, Tamara Williams, Michelle Brisco, Keith Long, and Justin Long; his great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Pippin, Kennedy Steinman, Kage Dunn, Austin Coulson, Ashlynn Coulson, Karson Dunn, Arynn Long, Brooklyn Long, Reese Robinson and Kendall Dunn.

A grave side service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale-Sublett Rd., Kennedale, TX 76060 at 1:00 p.m. October 6, 2023.
